CHARLES COUNTY FACTS
Location:
Charles County is located 20 miles south of Washington, DC, and less than an hour’s drive from Annapolis in Historic Southern Maryland. It’s bordered on the north by Prince George’s County, on the south and west by 150 miles of the Potomac River shoreline and on the east by the Patuxent River and both Calvert and St. Mary’s Counties.

In FY04, Charles County generated $724,633 in hotel taxes representing an 8% increase over the previous year. According to the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA), visitors to the county in 2002 spent $68.1 million. Local tax receipts totaled $3.4 million. The number of tourism jobs increased 3.5%.
